View alerts
You can configure Unisphere to monitor storage systems for specific events or error conditions. When an event or error of interest occurs, Unisphere displays an alert and, when configured to do so, sends a notification of the alert by way of email, SNMP, or Syslog.
Prerequisites
- See Roles and associated permissions to determine the user roles that can perform this task.
- For alert (event) descriptions, see the Events and Alerts Guide.
- In addition to alerting you of specific events or errors, Unisphere also generates several server alerts that also alert you. For more information, see Server alerts.
- The maximum number of alerts Unisphere displays is 10,000. Once this threshold is reached, Unisphere deletes the oldest alert for each subsequent alert it receives.
- Alerts for any issues that occur during a connectivity disruption are resent after the reestablishment of communications.
About this task
Steps

Do one of the following, depending on whether you want to view the alerts for a
particular storage system, or for all storage systems.
For a particular storage system:
- Select the storage system.
- Select to open the Alerts list view.
For all visible storage systems:-
Select Home and then select the alert icon
(
- the dot indicates the presence of new alerts and no dot
indicates that there are no new alerts). Fatal, critical, and warning
alerts are displayed.
Do one of the following:- Select
to acknowledge all alerts. - Select
to delete all alerts. - Select a specific alert
and click
to acknowledge it. - Select a specific alert
and click to delete it.
- Click View Alerts to open the Alert list view.

Use the alert filter to view a subset of the listed alerts. For more
information about the alert filter, see Filter alerts.
In both cases, the following properties display:
- State—State of the
alert
Possible values are New or Acknowledged.
- Severity—Severity of the
alert
Possible values are:
Fatal 
Critical 
Warning—The following events map to this severity: - The component is in a degraded state of operation
- The storage system is no longer present (during certain operations)
- The component is in an unknown state
- The component is (where possible) in a write-disabled state
Information—The component is no longer present (during
certain operations)-
Normal—The component is now (back) in a normal state of
operation
- Type—Type of
alert
Possible values are Array, Performance, Server, System, SLO compliance, and File.
- Symmetrix—Storage system that reports the alert. This field only appears when viewing alerts for all storage systems. This field appears blank for server alerts because server alerts are specific to the server or runtime environment and are not associated with a specific object or storage system.
- Object—Component to which
the alert is

- Description—Description of the alert
- Created—Date and time the alert was created
- Acknowledged—Date and time the alert was acknowledged
